United Spirits Seeks to Export Scotch Whisky to China
United Spirits, part of the UB Group led by Vijay Mallya, is finalizing its acquisition of Whyte & Mackay, a move that may pave the way for exporting Scotch whisky into China. While the deal's details remain undisclosed, speculation estimates the acquisition to value Whyte & Mackay at £550 million. The Indian company is conducting due diligence on the business, which includes the blended Scotch brand as well as the Isle of Jura and Dalmore single malts.
