Who made Connery disappear from film of scandal?

Lorne Cousin, the Scots lawyer

Lorne Cousin, a rural property lawyer at the Edinburgh-based legal firm Turcan Connell, has been asked to accompany Madonna on her forthcoming Re-invention world tour. Cousin, who piped at Stella McCartney's wedding last year, will join the rest of the show's performers in Los Angeles, where they are preparing for the five-month tour.

Scots Pipers on Tour

This is not the first time a Scots piper has been asked to join Madonna on tour. Calum "Spud" Fraser was asked to travel to New York for rehearsals in March. Fraser played at the christening of Madonna and Guy Ritchie's son Rocco at Dornoch castle in 2000. Now Lorne Cousin, the accomplished solo piper, will be adding his bagpipes to the tour.

A Scottish Piping Star

Lorne Cousin, hailing from Campbeltown, has a long history of competing in major piping gatherings across Scotland. His talent for playing the bagpipes has gained recognition, and he even won the prestigious Burgh Cup at the Cowal Highland Gathering in 1988. Although he now resides in Edinburgh, he still plays with the Kintyre Piping Society at their recitals.

Pipes in Mainstream Music

Leading Scots piper Lindsay Davidson believes that piping is becoming more popular in mainstream music. With new technology enabling bagpipes to play alongside other musical instruments in large concerts without tuning problems, the instrument is finding its place in new genres. Young folk groups are now incorporating the bagpipes into their records, and the instrument is being seen in a new light.

Bagpipes in Big Pop Productions

Davidson also believes that bagpipes can easily be incorporated into big pop productions such as Madonna's Re-invention world tour. He compares the bagpipes to the electric guitar, stating that the two instruments can be interchanged with ease and would work well in a large concert venue.

Overall, the addition of Lorne Cousin and his bagpipes to Madonna's tour brings a touch of Scottish pride and traditional music to the international stage.
