Millions have contacted the Madeleine McCann appeal website. Who runs it? Three teenagers from Ullapool Inside the campaign HQ TWO YOUNG people hurriedly stuff yellow Look For Madeleine wristbands into envelopes, surrounded by cardboard boxes containing thousands more earmarked for the campaign. Nearby, in the untidy garage store room, Madeleine badges and posters are awaiting delivery to supporters around the world who have donated £2 for the bands that symbolise the search for the missing four-year-old.
Policeman's son Calum MacRae, 18, is responsible for the campaign's website and distribution network for Madeleine's campaign from the unlikely location of the Loch Broom garage, on a windswept industrial estate on the outskirts of Ullapool, Wester Ross.
Despite Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry, both 39, now being treated by Portuguese police as suspects in her disappearance while on holiday in the Algarve, Calum claims there has been a recent surge in interest in the website and wristbands.
"There's no let-up," said Calum, whose Infohost firm hosts the family's official website, run using some of the £1 million in donations being sent to the privately run Madeleine's Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned. "There's been a big increase in orders since they became suspects. Somebody came back 30 times, ordering 100 bands. Sometimes people just want one or two, so we throw a couple of extra bands in. It's difficult to get rid of some of the medium-sized bands as they don't fit many people. People would still want the Madeleine bands even if she was found. Her face is a mark. It's everywhere."
Calum, who has designed websites "since he was 10" is paid out of the global donations to the fund, which won't be contributing to the McCanns' legal costs.
He refused to be drawn on how much his team of six are paid, and the Sunday Herald's repeated calls to the fund's spokeswoman, Esther McVey, were not returned. He added: "I can't tell you that, it's not much honestly. We are just covering our costs. You would need to speak to the fund about that."
Calum is convinced of the couple's innocence and says he will continue to run the website even if they are charged and tried in Portugal. He said: "I know from speaking to Gerry on the phone that he is 100% innocent. They are definitely not guilty. Gerry is very determined to find his daughter. You can tell it in his voice when he talks on the phone. He wouldn't have done all this if they were guilty. If the fund is still going, we will continue the website even if they are charged and face trial. They wouldn't want us to back off ..."
He remains convinced "someone" in Portugal knows the truth about Madeleine's whereabouts, and the family yesterday launched an £80,000 TV, newspaper and billboard campaign, which will be translated into several languages primarly aimed at Spain, Portugal and other mainland European countries, beginning in two weeks.
Madeleine's uncle, John McCann, from Glasgow, said: "The main objective of the Madeleine fund is to leave no stone unturned in the search for Madeleine."
Calum became involved after Madeleine's aunt, Philomena McCann, his former schoolteacher in Ullapool, approached him four days after the girl disappeared on May 3.
He said his staff spent between "12 and 20" hours each week on the website and wristbands. Although he claimed to have lost money on an earlier stunt for Premier League footballers to wear Madeleine t-shirts, he is pressing ahead with the distribution of T-shirts to the public in return for £10 donations.
Calum said: "We stopped every other thing we were doing that day and put the Find Madeleine site straight on. It's pretty much full-time doing the website and bands. We just invoice the fund, but it's not expensive compared with what other companies would charge. We have to account for how many hours are worked. It's not for us to decide what we are paid, but the fund insist we are."
The website's English-based server crashed when 1.5 million users tried to watch a video of Madeleine shown at the Uefa and FA Cup finals.
Figures obtained by the Sunday Herald show the Find Madeleine website attracted as many people as Missing People, the established UK charity formally known as the National Missing Persons Helpline, on September 7, the day Kate and Gerry were named as suspects in the case.
They show that 400,000 people viewed the Madeleine site, compared to only 150,000 for www.missingpeople.org.uk which is responsible for issuing appeals for thousands of people who vanish across the UK and Europe. American interest accounted for 103,000 hits on the Madeleine site, with only 15,000 from Portugal, and around 20,000 each from European countries such as Spain and Germany, which the family are hoping to target with the poster campaign.
Calum also revealed how Kate checks Gerry's blog before it is emailed to the site. However, Gerry has only posted one message since his return to Britain last week. Calum added: "It has got crazy at times, we've even got people going on in places such as Kurdistan."
Another worker on the site, Rona Eddington, 18, the daughter of a senior police inspector in Ross-shire, said: "We've had people saying in emails we killed her and taken her away' and we hate you.' We don't know if they are genuine, but they are passed to the police, who chase them all up. We've had so many like that and have to filter them. The website is about supporting the family."
Rona's father, chief inspector Paul Eddington, said he had no problems with his daughter's involvement in the website following Leicestershire Police's decision to take Kate's diary and Gerry's laptop, which he used to write his blog, for their Portuguese counterparts to examine last week.
The Portuguese magistrate examining the case is expected to announce this week whether the couple will face further questioning.
"I view what my daughter is doing as a parent, rather than a police officer. In the unlikely event that the investigation did involve the website, I would take a pragmatic view and wouldn't seek to get involved," said Eddington.
Calum is already working on new ventures after spotting a market in missing-person websites. Last week he contacted the family of missing schoolgirl Rosemary Edwards, from Hampshire, after her father made an emotional TV appeal. He said: "I don't think we should be making money out of it, but I would love to do more stuff like this. We phoned up to see if they wanted a website for that missing girl, but they haven't called back."

How refreshing to read a story about this case that has to do with factual details about how the Madeleine McCann website is maintained. There are so many stories that are based on hearsay, innuendos and leaks. It is interesting to hear about this group of young people who have channeled their talents in to something that is serving as a valuable tool for the McCanns and the public. I admire these young people for sticking to their beliefs and remaining consistent, supportive and energetic. Also, I think it is a nice thing to want to make a living at supporting others during difficult times. As they are working out of a garage, you can see that they are hardly making a huge amount of money over this effort.
This article references responses that they get from the public on this website . . . it is shameful how people comment in such hateful and emotional ways about subject matter in which they have no factual knowledge - only what is reported in the media. You know these days, anyone could find themselves or a family member in the path of media attention and would they want people to voice every emotional reaction about them? Thoughtful perspective and comments that demonstrate restraint and objectivity are a lot more impactful -- a respectful.

I have a website for my business, and it has many pages and some links, Cost $1020.00 to build, and $35.00 for the server who hosts it per month. Text changes $10.00. We all need to get paid, business is business. Seemingly its a full time job for Calum, who needs to learn to spellcheck and punctuate. Needless to say I feel sorry for what Madeleine is going thru, but tell me this much. As a mother of 3, after having a child abducted or whatever happened to her on May 3rd can a mother drop her twins of at a creche each day, I would not let them out of site if that was me.

[bold]bold[/bold] I read a story about disappearance of an eight-year-old Portuguese girl in 2004. Her name is Joana Cipriano and she vanished from a village just seven miles from Praia da Luz.
Joana's mother and uncle were convicted of murder-no body found. Five police officers have been accused of forcing false confessions out of them. Goncalo Amaral, who is number three in the Madeleine inquiry has been accused of torture, omission of evidence and falsification of documents. I believe there is a possibility that someone within Portugal's Police department is responsible the abduction of Madeleine and Joana. It would explain many things... like how could DNA evidence get into a vehicle that was rented by the McCann's 25 days after Madeleine's disappearance. It was planted in the vehicle by someone who has access to police evidence and the investigation. Use common sense...it all fits

How odd Esther McVey is trying to distance herself from the McCanns'. Wonder why? Could she know something not yet publicized? I don't trust Kate and Gerry's motives for the Fund. So sorry to hear it's deemed a 'success'.

I believe Gerry and Kate is innocent!!
They are only guilty of two crimes - one having a false sense of security and the other is not making a showcase of their emotions like the world want them to.

It seems that all the Portuguese Police are doing is trying to deflect the search for a missing child into a murder enquiry as a cover up. I wonder if all the police have alibi's on the night Madeleine disappeared. As for a babysitter. My daughter worked in similar resorts as a Nanny and all they did was listen at each door every half hour and contacted the parents if there was crying inside. This is common practise and maybe should be reviewed. At least all the publicity has made everyone aware of the extent of child abduction in the world. I just hope that Madeleine is returned to her family soon.

Calum's comments re the edwards family show incredible insensitivity most familys are living in hope that their missing child will be found ASAP not many have the foresight to set up a website, a fund and an online store selling bracelets and posters of the missing child. It is also nice that he can tell that Gerry McCann is innocent just by talking to him on the phone, perhaps he can lend his services to the joint UK & Portugese investigation.

Figgy-in the middle ages you are one of the people who would be shouting "Waken up people, they're guilty" at the latest "witches" revelations.
The Mail on Sunday today exposes the whole structure behind the daily drip of smears to the Portuguese tabloids, written on a paid daily column by a retired member of the local police who is himself one of the formal suspects for beating into a "confession" the mother of the last local child that went missing three years ago. This is all about corrupt local police, local tabloids, and a £2.8 billion tourist industry that cannot afford to be destroyed by a European-wide realisation that the Algarve has twice in three years been targetted by paedophile child abductors. Also, the "evidence" about DNA hair etc is baloney likewise, the DNA would show the same incidence of matching from any member of the McCann family.
The desperate truth is that the local police are using the Press—who are camped on site having to justify themselves with daily "news", the hotter the better, to beat up into a "confession" the McCanns just as they beat up the previous mother of a missing child in the region.

I dissagree with you completely. I think if they wanted to save their tourist industry they would of pursued robert murat. If they can make "innocent" Mcganns be scapegoats, they could of solved this far easier and sooner doing the same to robert murat! No matter what is truth and what is lies, their is far more evidence against the Mcganns!!!!

The fund was set up specifically to support the recovery of this poor child. The website is key to this effort. It is therefore quite proper that the funds be used for this purpose.

Pig Chalk Gnu shows where some of the anti-McCann sentiment unfortunately can come from in Scotland. They went to see the Pope, eh?
As for Chloe in Cardiff she says there is far more evidence against the McCanns. The whole point is, as the Mail on Sunday articles today make clear, is that there is no actual evidence against the McCanns whatso ever. That is the whole point. They are being relentlessly smeared by a policeman in the local tabloid always maintaining that the police "have evidence that" when this "evidence" never ever once has held up. Kate McCann like the mother of the missing child three years ago, is being pressurised and inhumanely treated to force her to the point of a confession, or a breakdown. The McCanns "fault" in the eyes of the local police is that they stayed on the resort and drummed up worldwide publicity.

The whole thing is becoming very disturbing. The media, the yello wristbands, the unceasing speculation and media coverage. TV's blaring in many houses with the constant reporting. Now think, who are the people in our societies who are more vulnerable to this news?? Our children!! Now imagine being a child, always feeling home, and your parents are a safe place. Never even having the concept that a parent could harm their own child let alone kill. So,the child, having been exposed to this endless news and then the suspicion being placed on the parents, and the idea already having been 'sown' that a parent could do such a thing. Rather a rude and unnecessary awakening for a child's conscious mind. To plant seed's of fear in a childs head, in the sub-conscious mind, and who know's to what ends this gross mass manipulation of minds and emotion's and what will follow ??? We're all being suckered, regardless of the mccann's innocence or guilt. As someone termed it in an article yesterday, '**** News'.

The idea of making money from missing persons in the way they are doing is vomit inducing. How can one say otherwise?
It looks as if the site managers are in it for the money as opposed to anything else.
They may well be doing harm to THEMSELVES. Remember the parents are suspects. Supporting them may be viewed as covering up for them and being a propaganda machine for them. Culpability in the eyes of the public?
Students making a few shillings from a severe tragedy?
The site is tantamount to a shop. It looks bizzare. And the fact several of the site owners are siblings of policemen makes it look even worse. Are the McCanns using them?
WHO is really writing on this site? Is it really Gerry McCann?
The site is now a propaganda machine for the SUSPECTS. How can anyone say otherwise.
The owners of the site are going to look very bad if they get found guilty OR are deemed guilty by the public.
NOBODY can rule out the parents. To say "they cannot be guilty" is daft.
The idea of Policemen being part of the propaganda war in favour of the McCanns is ridiculous - very poor judgment and very greedy.
Is the site going to be used now to reinvent the McCanns as a "lovely couple"? Incidentally, we all know photographs are propaganda weapons as per nice innocent ones. Even Hitler had them.
People are not daft. They will try and get the spotlight away from the FACT they are suspects and so on - it won't work.
AND they left three babies home alone and went to the pub - that is FACT.n AND that cannot be airbrushed out. It was gross neglect.

Tony, Glasgow, i completely agree with your comments, this is what i've been saying from the start of this farcical investigation, it screams corrupt, inept Policing, if they have any credible evidence against the McCanns they would never have been allowed back to the UK, we can only hope this pantomime ends soon and they can get back to the job of finding what happened to this child, sadly i feel if the Police are involved that will never happen.

2 many people seem to be making money from this sorry story. The idea of making money from the likes of wrist bands is obnoxious.
And arty **** talk from "inspector plod" will not change that.
The money the site owners are making is surely coming from donations to the fund. And that includes donations from money raising ventures from children in council estates. Vomit inducing stuff.
Are the young owners of the site simply being used by the McCann propaganda machine? It looks like it to me.

What do I mean? Is it not obvious reader? Do they think the "culprit" will sent emails to the site and they will find them and get their name in lights? Do their big stuff?
Be honest reader, thats what it looks like. Sad stuff - but predictable. These cops are frankly going to look ridiculous. Pretending to be sniffer of the yard?
A "Baldric Cunning Plan" if you ask little old me. What fannies.

Well I hope these kids don't look up to the McCanns for parenting advice. The fact is that they are GUILTY of negligence, leaving 3 babies alone....they could have drowned in that pool, fallen down the stairs, started a fire with found matches...
I think they may be guilty of much more, but it starts with the negligence....who wants to support such rotten parents? What of other, poor, parents in jail for negligence?? Should they free all of them?
I read a story about disappearance of an eight-year-old Portuguese girl in 2004. Her name is Joana Cipriano and she vanished from a village just seven miles from Praia da Luz.
Joana's mother and uncle were convicted of murder-no body found. Five police officers have been accused of forcing false confessions out of them.
Thanks, Lynn Mansfield. After seeing this I googled Joana's name and found many news articles, some going back to the time of her disappearance. Whatever the ultimate truth about the convictions, whether or not the confessions were false, the case and that of a whistle-blower for a Lisbon paedophile ring in 2002 involving some high-profile people, goes a long way to explaining why the local and national Portuguese police are so twitchy about 'solving' the case quickly with a confession from Kate McCann.
Those who argue that at the least the McCann's were guilty of negligence in leaving their children while they had dinner nearby overlook the cultural differences between Britain and the Iberian peninsula, where children usually accompany their parents when they go out in the evening, often staying up running around happily to well after midnight, whereas in Britain responsible parents would leave them with a baby sitter or family member.
Some holiday hotels abroad provide a 'baby-sitting' service, checking up on sleeping children at intervals rather than actually staying with them. But that wouldn't necessarily be the case with self-catering apartments. So caught between these cultural differences, choosing a restaurant some 50m from their apartment - closer than the average hotel restaurant from many of its own rooms - the McCanns' action was the logical one taken by tens of thousands of responsible parents under the circumstances.
Given that it is quite common across the border in Spain for ground floor rooms facing the street to have ornate wrought iron bars or gratings over the windows, traditionally against petty theft, in addition to roller shutters which can be forced up somewhat if not fully closed, it seems surprising that wasn't so in this case.
And finally, even in the UK there was a case not long ago of a toddler who was abducted through the window of her own room by a paedophile while her parents were elsewhere in the house, but heard nothing. Fortunately, though, that little girl was dumped alive and found wandering in the street.
My heart goes out to Kate and Gerry and I pray that there will be a resolution before too long and that little Maddy will also be found alive.

I believe the McCann's are innocent. Human nature can be so ugly. Let's not forget that first and foremost, these parent's are still grieving and now to be faced with these ridiculous and hurtful accusations. It wouldn't surprise me if this goes very high up and there is a major cover up going on. My sister who lives overseas mentioned that in their news today, it was reported that there are apparently photos revealing some insidious looking man that appeared 'watching' in the background in more than 1 family photo. I can't seem to see any news on this here.

I do not know if the McCanns are guilty of killing their daughter and disposing of her body.
I do not believe there is a conspiracy at the heart of the Portuguese justice system - after all, the McCanns did refuse to answer 40 crucial questions put to them by police before they were named as suspects.
If there is serious suspicion attached to the McCanns, they should be charged and tried, without they hysterical input of the UK media, or the intervention of big business.
Let them have their day in court, where questions have to be answered - with their top notch legal support they should have no problem putting the supposedly incompetent Portuguese authorities in their place.

First of all, I want to say that my heart goes out to the McCanns and poor Madeleine. To lose a child, God forbid that would ever happen to me or someone in my family. The pain must be unimaginable, searing, unrelenting, physically wrenching.
I know that when one of my children leaves my side, even for a second, in a grocery store or somesuch place, my heart drops precipitously into my stomach until I spot them one or two seconds later.
Next, I want to say that the so-called damning entries in Kate's diaries are just natural expressions of a mother's exhaustion and frustration raising three small children. Any of you who have raised three children, may you cast the first stone. It is terrifically hard, exhausting, but ultimately infinitely rewarding. Some days I express tiredness, inability to cope, frustration at and about my kids. Does that mean I am I child murderer or someone who could be? I think not...
Please, unless you have walked a mile in the McCann's shoes, do not pass judgment on them. They have lost a child. Madeleine still needs to be found. If the parents did it, it is the most elaborate acting job and cover up in the history of man. More likely, the keystone cops in Portugal are trying to make up for lost time on the investigation and for bungling the search in the first place.
Thank you for listening, all, and dear Lord on high, please return that precious girl safely to her parents.

The McCanns left their tots alone several nights in a row during the holiday. Why isn't that fact being published in mainstream media? Do the donors to their Fund/s know this? Kate looked better and better with every photo-op UNTIL she was made a formal suspect. Now the McCann PR team is releasing pictures of Kate in her early years along with sappy testaments from her friends. The UK government and their personal involvement with the McCann PR Machine has a lot to answer for. Without doubt, they are trying to cripple a legitimate investigation in Portugal. Name one of these so-called powerful 'supporters' that have done ONE THING to "Find Madeleine". Cripes, even her very own parents haven't done that! What a SCAM! All for money, ALL about Gerry and Kate! WHY? Name one other case of a missing child the British government has become involved in. WHY are Gerry and Kate getting special treatment??? Something is happening in this case that is very sinister, and all I know is that it IS NOT about Finding Madeleine.

I've never witnessed such media bias. Credible UK journalism is dead, thanks to Gerry and Kate McCann's *connections* and how low the media sunk to accomodate them. The British press is corrupt. An investigation into how and why the bias favoring two *official suspects* has been heaped on us daily needs to happen immediately. Too bad Robert Murat didn't have 'connections'; the media showed him no mercy yet there is not one ounce of evidence that connects him to Madeleine's disappearance. I don't believe for a moment there was ever an 'abduction'. I DO believe many lies were told by the McCann's and their drinking/dining partners. Gerry and Kate are a very disturbed couple--all one has to do is look at their strange behaviors from the moment Kate claims "they" took Madeleine. I hope their surviving children are and will continue to be safe within their 'relaxed parenting' methods which, if nothing else they are guilty of, and Madeleine has suffered the ultimate penalty for. How does a mother leave her little children ALONE on holiday night after night and deny it isn't neglectful???
Can the UK police be trusted anymore? We know the government is protecting the McCann's but what about UK law enforcement? I have to believe, based on the highly powerful people associated with the McCanns the UK police are being pressured to create an appearance of innocence for the suspects, Kate and Gerry, same as the media has done. R.I.P. UK press. Shame on you!

Answer me this. Do responsible people leave children in an unlocked - yes unlocked - so they can go out drinking. Perhaps they do. Do you? I would feel kind of bad about behaving in that way and I am not an over-protective parent.
The missing child did not leave her parents - at the very best they left her, if she did not die at their hand, as the police suspect.
There should be only sympathy for the missing child and rage at the parents who allowed this to happen, and the third party, if one was indeed involved.

Okay, okay. So they left their children alone in the apartment. That doesn't make them criminals or child murderers. For God's sake, just leave them alone. They will have to live with that fact and they don't want you lot telling them so all the time. So SHUT UP.
I for one, as an extremely loving and far too over-protective parent, have made mistakes in the past and unwillingly have put my children at risk. That doesn't make me a guilty criminal parent does it? So, who out there has turned their back for a split second and found that their beloved child has put you in a position where you have had to endure sleepless nights for the rest of your life? The saying "he without sin throw the first stone" should admit it.
I, for one, will always stand by the McCanns.

Spending night after night out drinking in the pub is not turning your back for a split second.
People will not shut up about this, because they are angry with the way the media have portrayed this case. Many do not believe in the McCanns or believe their story. They have a right to their views, as have those who choose not to question the McCanns' version of events.

I, for one, will always stand by the McCanns.
Wrong. It is a criminal offence to leave children under fourteen alone in the UK. It is also illegal in Portugal.
If this had been a couple of parents from a council estate who had left their three children under four years old in an unlocked apartment while they went out for a boozy dinner I seriously doubt we would be seeing all these messages of support.
The McCanns are guilty of neglect which led to at the very least the abduction of their daughter.
This website is little more than a propaganda device to distract from this.
I feel sorry for the children in this world who have parents that think it is ok to leave them by themselves while they go out for some fun with their friends.

These are reported in the papers:
Kate wrote that her children were excessively active... Each night of their holiday in a foreign country, Gerry and Kate put their kids to bed at 7 or 7:30, and later went out to dine. The night she disappeared they had left, unlocked, the room that faced a public access road.
I can't imagine how a mother who knows her kids are active can leave them in an unlocked room. Did she not worry they would wander out into the street? Did she not even think of the possibility of an accident? A fire? Of the elder child waking and accidentally harming the younger ones? Or was she SURE nothing of the sort would happen because they were going to sleep soundly?
Then they go on a media blitz. I would have stayed right where I was, joining in the search, scouring the area, finding ways to allow sniffer dogs on all the boats or such. What could will armbands do to find the child? It's all hype. And now I read "People would still want the Madeleine bands even if she was found. Her face is a mark. It's everywhere."
Poor Maddie. First her parents leave her unprotected. Now they've made her a BRAND. What will we have next? Maddie Security Locks? Maddie Diaries marketed to Mothers in Grief. Maddie dolls with her own pet sniffer dog? Maddie contact lenses?
If she has indeed been abducted by some psychotic perv, he/she is probably gloating that he has managed to set such a media wheel in motion. And the power of the knowledge that he/she has - where Maddie is and what happened to her is just being fed by all this mess. I think that instead of Maddie being found, all this attention will make him/her conceal her even more, and get a thrill out of doing so.
Maddie's parents should consider whether this mania isn't actually counterproductive to finding her.
I can't wait for media experts to come up with a scholarly analysis of the Maddie Media Phenomenon.

Has anyone also considered that if she were abducted for illegal adoption, the abductor would NOW opt to kill her? She would be too much of a danger now because her face is all over the place. Where would she ever be able to live, go to school as an adopted child now? If that was the reason she was abducted, and not paedophilia, then the chance of her staying alive has just diminished with this media blitz. The only chance would be that the abductor has a change of heart and turns her over. But what is the likelihood of that?

Did the McCanns leave three babies home alone and go to the pub? Yes they did. Should we all leave our babies home alone and go to the pub like?
Why did they run away from Portugal?
Why hire an extradition lawyer?
WHY did she refuse to answer Police questions.
DNA from body fluids that match "Maddy" were found in the car. As was hair from Maddy. And cadaver dogs indicated a corpse in both the apartment and the car.
Stitch-up? UK Police have been involved from the beginning. It was UK cadaver dogs and a UK lab was used to analyze the results.
AND the Home Secretary said she was satisfied with the investigation.
How did an abductor know that the McCanns were out, the kids were in and the door was open? How did they know they would not return?
WHY did they hire a car when they did?
WHY did the children not wake up in the flat when it was searched?
WHY did she run back to the pub and shout they "have taken her" MINUS the other two kids?
It IS a fact that the vast majority of children that are harmed are harmed by PARENTS.
Why hide the hire car?
Why did they claim abduction immediately? Creating a third party so the world would look that way?
Why set up a company fund as opposed to a
charity fund?
Are they trying to but themselves out of a hole as per using PR companies and fancy lawyers and so on?
Are people getting fed up with the cheap word games and idiotic antics?
Mr. McCann said the garden was the same as the pub. Its not, now, is it.
Are the extracts from Mrs M diary correct? Did she struggle badly with "Maddy" (the name is a media invention in that the parents NEVER called her that).
Mrs. M, as a GP, would have completed social work reports concerning neglectful parents. Leaving three babies home alone and going to the pub look severe neglect to most people.
Mr. M said he left the door open in case of fire. So, three babies were to run out like?
He said he could see the apartment form the Tapas bar/pub. If one looks at the map/image of the place that statement becomes non-nonsensical. Its a load of tripe.
How often did they sedate their kids? Good parenting? NEGLECT in the extreme is nearer it.
Anyone can wear fancy clothes and make-up. That does not mean they are not neglectful parents. Spending money on kids is easy - looking after them is another matter. They went to the pub and left three babies home alone. FACT. WHO would trust anything people like that said?
The great uncle even said he wanted to use the company fund/donations for legal fees. What? Council house children donated to that. Beyond belief.
Aunty Phil said Mrs. M was offered a deal by the PJ. Where is the proof of that? Mrs. M's lawyer never said that!
Misinformation
Propaganda
Deflecting our attention away from the real story - a story of severe neglect.
Uncle John and his silly west end of Glasgow accent and his salesman antics and theatrics/acting and props (he is a salesman, incidentally thus the idiotic mannerisms) does the family more harms than good. Nobody trusts people who come across as second hand car salesmen. And he does.

I have 3 children, whom I love dearly. Occasionally I too have left them unattended. When I've been in the car and they were asleep I've popped into a shop to buy something; when I've gone round to a neighbours for some reason and also when I've been on holiday - camping in France - I've gone across to a friend's tent, because it felt safe. Isn't that how life should be? Rather than expecting our kids to murdered or kidnapped. I believe most people are good, and the tragedy that has befallen the McCanns is a tragedy that could have happened to almost anyone, when their back was turned.

The old Scottish saying that facts are chiels that winna ding, and the facts uncovered by careful investigation are the ones that will be produced in the courts of law in due course. Should it be found that the McCanns and their friends have no case to answer, then is the time for unbounded comment. The mere speculation that is rampant at present can be dismissed as worthless media puff.

The remaining kids should be in care, and the McCanns should be charged with neglect.....

Please, unless you have walked a mile in the McCann\'s shoes, do not pass judgment on them.
Do you suggest the courts canot pass judgement on them if they have not walked a mile in their shoes?
Answer me this. Do responsible people leave children in an unlocked - yes unlocked - so they can go out drinking. Perhaps they do. Do you? I would feel kind of bad about behaving in that way and I am not an over-protective parent.
The missing child did not leave her parents - at the very best they left her, if she did not die at their hand, as the police suspect.
There should be only sympathy for the missing child and rage at the parents who allowed this to happen, and the third party, if one was indeed involved.
Of course the courts can pass judgment. I meant those of you who have not raised three kids cannot/should not pass judgment on Kate's state of mind based on her diary entries, that is all.
Responsible people do not, I agree, leave their children the way that the McCanns did. I would never do such a thing. I am even loathe, in this day and age, to let my teenage boy walk two blocks to school with a friend. Also, what if Maddie and the twins woke up and were scared to be alone? That in and of itself is wrong, I would be the first to say.
What the McCanns did is irresponsible, but it does not mean they should lose a child and suffer a lifetime of guilt and pain.

Clare, the McCanns went to the PUB and left their kids home alone and the kids were babies. Did you forget to mention that? They done a bit more than turning their backs. Yes?
John, the McCanns themselves have been speculating. WHERE is the proof an abductor ever existed? WHY did they say that immediately?
Mother of 3, how do u know the McCanns are not responsible for the disappearance? Please explain.
What would have been the case if it was poor parents as opposed to Doctors? The people now supporting the McCanns (including the blatant spam merchants, email bombers and multi ID merchants) would be condemning them.
Bottom line - they grossly neglected three babies. And playing the religion card hoping Catholics like me blindly support them is disgusting.

Mother from NYC, I do know they are responsible.
They left three babies home alone and went to the pub. Is that correct?
As for the speculation, how much of it is coming from the McCanns themselves? Did you forget to mention that? They will not be allowed to air brush that fact out.
At the weekend it was said the body was dumped at sea. Mere speculation. Was that yet another load of rubbish spewed out by the McCanns to deflect attention away from where the body really is?
Is it in or
