John Boyle Sells CV Travel to The Kuoni Group for Over £10 Million

John Boyle, the travel entrepreneur and majority shareholder in Motherwell Football Club, has sold luxury holiday group CV Travel to The Kuoni Group for a price believed to be more than £10 million. Boyle, who made his fortune building up Direct Holidays and currently owns Zoom Airlines with his brother Hugh, bought CV Travel three years ago. The acquisition, made through his Hamilton Portfolio investment vehicle, was then followed by a deal to add Ski Verbier to the group.

CV Travel: A Leader in UK Premium Leisure Travel

CV Travel, established in 1972, is a prominent player in the UK premium leisure travel segment. Originally specializing in villas in Corfu, the company has since expanded its offerings to exclusive luxury villas with private pools in locations throughout Europe, with a focus on Greece, France, and Italy. Earlier this year, CV Travel extended its destinations to include the Caribbean, Oman, and South Africa. The company aims to deliver a high level of service to meet the individual needs of its customers, whether couples, families, or corporate clients.

Adding Touches of Luxury and Service

CV Travel differentiates itself by offering villas that are exclusively available through the company and not bookable via any other internet platform. John Boyle stated, "We add touches of luxury and service that you don't get elsewhere." The company primarily sells its products directly to the public, with some bookings through independent travel agents. With an annual turnover of approximately £14.7 million and a workforce of 40 employees, CV Travel has established itself as a trusted name in the luxury travel industry.

Kuoni's Acquisition of CV and Ski Verbier

Kuoni's acquisition of CV Travel and Ski Verbier further strengthens its position in the top-end travel market. This move follows Kuoni's previous strategic deals to acquire Voyages of Distinction and Kirker Holidays. John Boyle expressed his confidence in Kuoni as a new home for CV Travel, stating, "We are delighted that in Kuoni, it is going to a good home."
